LOKEO Foundation

LOKEO stands for Agricultural Development in Klaaskreek and Surrounding Areas. It is the organization responsible for developing the region west of Klaaskreek in the Brokopondo district. Given the abundance of wealth and natural resources in this area, it was decided to further develop the region through agricultural production.

LOKEO was established on July 18, 2014. The idea to develop this area primarily came from Chief Captain King, who has since passed away. May their soul rest in peace.

Objective

To develop agriculture and industry in West Klaaskreek and work on expanding the village of Klaaskreek to address the housing shortage.

vision

Foster the development of the interior region by leveraging the potential, resources, and residents of the Brokopondo district. Establishing agroforestry industries, businesses, and entrepreneurship in West Klaaskreek will ultimately benefit the surrounding area, allowing it to reap the rewards it has long awaited. This will contribute to the well-being of Suriname and its citizens. Through its mission, LOKEO contributes to achieving important Sustainable Development Goals.

Mission

LOKEO aims to enhance the position of the entire Brokopondo district and support local entrepreneurs. The foundation plans to achieve this by utilizing human capital, natural resources from the interior, and cultivation for food production and employment across 500 hectares of land. The focus is on developing and promoting small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurship, as well as creating jobs in various agroforestry sectors. Establishing housing and factories is a key part of the mission.
